Passing of Joanne Odom

IAFF Local F-147 regrets to announce the passing of Joanne (Josie) Odom, wife of former Local F-147 member Bill Odom. Joanne passed on April 23rd after a lifetime of service to others. Visitation will be on April 29th from 2-4 and 7-9 at John P. Condon Funeral Home, 804 Rt 36 in Leonardo NJ. Funeral service will be on April 30th at 11:00 am at St Agnes Catholic Church, 103 Center Ave, Atlantic Highlands NJ.

Our deepest thoughts and prayers go out to Bill and his entire family.

April 2019 General Membership Meetings
Our next Union meetings will be on Thursday, April 11th and Friday, April 12th. Both meetings will take place at The Cabin (on the patio, behind the fireplace) on Route 33 in Freehold and start at 1700 sharp. Please make every effort to attend. See you there!

Assistant Chief Joe Seliga Retirement Luncheon

We will be celebrating Assistant Chief Joe Seliga's 34+ years of Government service with a luncheon on February 23rd at the Mainside Fire Station (Station 94-1). The Luncheon will be from 1300 until 1600. All food and drinks will be provided by Local F-147.

All family, friends and co-workers of Joe's are welcome to attend. Anyone who needs assistance accessing the base should call the Fire Station at (732)866-2260. Anyone with questions regarding this event should contact Mike Holmes at (908) 461-5078.

Please help us give Chief Seliga the proper send-off he deserves! See you there!

Passing of Charter Member Jack Henry

Local F-147 regrets to announce the passing of Clifford "Jack" Henry. Jack passed on Friday, February 2nd 2018 at his home in Neptune City at the age of 91. Jack was a proud Charter Member of our Local Union and played a pivotal role in organizing Federal Firefighters on Naval Weapons Station Earle in 1969. In addition, Jack was a 25 year member of the Neptune City First Aid Squad and a 70 year life member of the Neptune City Fire Department. Jack will receive a Firefighter's funeral service with military honors.

Wake services will take place on Saturday, February 17th from 12-4 p.m. at the O'Brian Funeral Home, 2028 Highway 35 at New Bedford Road in Wall Township. A Funeral Service will be held 1PM at the funeral home, followed by a masonic service and fireman’s service. Military honors will conclude the visitation at 4 PM. In lieu of flowers the family has requested donations to autismspeaks.org.

2017-2018 could prove to be damaging period for Federal Employees legislatively speaking. There are threats of damaging legislation, including the elimination of FERS, loss of appeal rights, loss of pay steps and contracting out to name a few. Some of these have already been introduced.
