Obituary
Edmund Beekman, 71, of Union Beach, passed away Friday, November 5th. Edmund was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, a son of the late Daniel and Mabel (Nelson) Beekman. He served in the US Army and was stationed in Korea. After the war, he returned to Brooklyn where he met his future wife. They settled in Union Beach in 1976, where they would raise their family. Edmund was an elevator mechanic at Miller Elevator which then became Schindler Elevator in New York City, for many years.
He attended King of Kings Lutheran Church in Middletown and belonged to the American Legion. He enjoyed spending time at the Union Beach post. Edmund was a movie buff and especially fond of movies starring Hayley Mills. He loved music and was an amazing pianist as well as guitarist. He enjoyed shooting pool and looked forward to Friday nights when he would play video games with his son and grandsons. Edmund was good with all things electronic. He was always tinkering with all sorts of gizmos and gadgets around the house. Edmund might be most known for his enthusiastic support for Donald Trump and his one regret might be that he is not able to vote for him in the next election. "Make America Great Again!" Edmund will always be fondly remembered as a loving father and grandfather.
Edmund is survived by his two children; Hayley (Frank) Butler, of Hazlet; and Drew (Alicia) Beekman, of Michigan. Three grandchildren; David and Cody Beekman and Avery Butler, along with his former wife and forever friend, Elizabeth Beekman, he also leaves behind two sisters, Mabel (Giulio) Colangeli and Irene Ellis; his Aunt, Doris Borelli; many cousins, nieces and nephews along with great nieces and nephews.
Edmund was predeceased by his brother Daniel Beekman; sister, Martha Henretty and Aunt, Martha Petrozzo.
Friends and relatives may pay their respects on Friday from 4 - 8 pm at Scott & Kedz Home for Funerals. A Service will conclude the evening and a private cremation will follow.
